The stadium project is continuing to move forward with several levels of success. We have raised nearly $650,000 in donations and in-kind contributions in the past four years. This has led to the successful completion of phase one of the project. The rest-rooms/concession stand was turned over to the district in October of last year. We now are focusing on phase two, the covered stadium itself. We have almost $300,000.00 in the stadium account and have a goal of making that $500,000.00 by the end of December. With that amount toward the $900,000.00 needed to complete phase two we will be able to apply for matching grants and other grants that will make the covered stadium a reality. We have hired Rose City Philanthropy to help find grants that will fit the parameters of this project. They have been very helpful at locating grants for us. We need to follow their leads with applications to secure the funds for phase two. We could use grant writing help if anyone is a grant writer and would like to be a part of the committee to help Vernonia cross the finish line please contact the Vernonia School District.
